On graduating in Architecture from the University of Genoa, she earned a master’s degree in management and communication of cultural heritage at the Scuola Normale Superiore of Pisa. She has published ‘Le teorie tradizionaliste nell’architettura contemporanea’ (‘Traditionalist theories in contemporary architecture’, with Giorgio Pigafetta, Rome 1997, Paris 1999, Madrid 2002) and other studies on the architects of the twentieth century. She has translated essays on the history of modern and contemporary architecture. Her entries on the works and drawings of Carlo Scarpa appear in various books and exhibition catalogues. Recently she curated the exhibition ‘Carlo Scarpa and the Form of Words’ (Treviso, Centro Carlo Scarpa, 2010/11; Rome, MAXXI, 2011).
Helmut Koester
Dr. Koester is a specialist in daylighting and integrated artificial lighting. He holds numerous patents in the field of daylighting, artificial lighting, building and façade technology. Furthermore, his office developed a software to simulate the interaction between daylight systems and glazing. Synergy effects are realized through an interdisciplinary way of working in cooperation with architects and builders. The international work of the office is supported by Dr. Koester’s book “Daylight Dynamic Architecture”, published in Chinese, English, Slovenian and German. He teaches at universities and cambers of Architects. Dr. Koester’s daylighting technology has been used worldwide for more than 20 years with over 400,000 m² glass roofs and facades.

Philippe Rahm
Philippe Rahm is the principal of Philippe Rahm architectes, based in Paris, France. His work, which extends the field of architecture from the physiological to the meteorological, has received an international audience in the context of sustainability. In 2002, he was chosen to represent Switzerland at the 8th Architecture Biennale in Venice, and was nominated in 2009 for the Ordos Prize in China and in 2010 and 2008 for the International Chernikov Prize in Moscow where he was ranked in the top ten. He has participated in a number of exhibitions worldwide, from France to New York, and in 2007 had a personal exhibition at the Canadian Centre for Architecture in Montreal. He has lectured widely, including at Harvard School of Design, Cooper Union, UCLA and the ETH Zürich. He is currently working on several private and public projects in France, Taiwan, Italy and Germany.

Henrik Clausen
Henrik has been involved in lighting for over 24 years in both commercial and academic positions. He helped to pioneer the use of lighting application software to aid custom manufacturing of fixtures, always working closely with architects, interior designers, and specialist lighting designers. In 1996 he became the Managing Director of Fagerhult Lighting in Denmark, and held that position until 2004, where he founded the Fagerhult Lighting Academy, based in Copenhagen. Henrik holds numerous educational positions at various Universities. He also appears world wide as a guest speaker on many different occasions, primarily addressing the human and emotional aspects of light and lighting design. He has been the chairman of the board in the Danish Illuminating Engineering Society. His goal is to act as a catalyst in the cooperation between Engineers, Designers and Architects in ensuring the optimum lighting solution is found.
Alessandro Gobbetti
Alessandro’s career in the industry started in 2009 when he had the opportunity to work on Avatar at Weta Digital as a lighting and effects artist. The job came after he won the ENEL Digital Contest competition for a short he made at home with a friend. He studied Architecture in Venice and Delft, at the time not having any visual effects experience whatsoever. After New Zealand, Alessandro moved to Los Angeles to attend professional courses at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects. He arrived in London about a year ago, and has been working as a Lighting and FX Tecnical Director at Peerless Camera Company where they developed a sequence for Green Lantern. At the moment he works at Framestore, one of the most established companies in Europe, on a movie called Gravity.
Orsenigo-Chemollo
Fulvio Orsenigo began taking photographs in 1989. He has worked as a professional photographer since 1991, representing architecture and contemporary landscape. He was the coordinator and photographer for the photographic campaign Venezia-Marghera.Fotografia e trasformazione nella città contemporanea exposed at the XLVII Venice Biennale.
Alessandra Chemollo was born in Treviso on 20 August 1963 and lives in Venice. She graduated from the Venice University Institute of Architecture (IUAV) in 1995 with a dissertation on the relationship between architecture and photography. Her reflections on representing architectural works, and widely on anthropological landscape crosses both her commissioned work and the projects autonomously produced, without solution of continuity.
Giovanni Traverso
Graduated in architecture at IUAV in 1994, completed his studies attending a Master of Science in architecture “Light and lighting” at Bartlett, UCL, London. He is Director of Sustainability for PLDA-Professional Lighting Design’s Association. In 1996 with Paola Vighy he established traverso-vighy architecture office in Vicenza. In the lighting design field the firm deals with issues related to sustainability and tries to found an equilibrate relationship between natural and artificial light, inspired by the importance of light in vital rhythms imposed by seasonal and circadian cycles. The studio’s knowledge of architectural detailing and lighting techniques has allowed it to undertake international projects of varying scales and functions. Giovanni Traverso has taught at Venice University Institute of Architecture IUAV, Vicenza Institute of Architecture,University of Florida and at Interior Design Institute-ISAI, Vicenza. He has lectured extensively on the relationship between light and architecture.

Paola Vighy
Graduating in architecture at IUAV in 1994, she completed her studies attending a Master of Science in architecture “Light and lighting” at the Bartlett, UCL, London. In 1996, developing the interaction between light and architecture, she founded with Giovanni Traverso the traverso-vighy firm in Vicenza. The studio’s projects develop along a coherent trajectory that leads to the creation of light buildings based on experimentation, prefabrication and a sparing use of resources. This design process leads to the creation of close ties with the context, without renouncing a strong identity and formal independence. The firm’s works have been collected in “Space made light, traverso-vighy 1994-2009”, Umberto Allemandi Editions.
Marina Vio
Marina Vio studied at the IUAV in Venezia. She has extensive experience in research and teaching on Environmental Control Systems and Building Physics. From 2003 to 2005 she was director of the Master course in Lighting Design at IUAV, Venice. In the last two decades she has been working in the area of acoustic, lighting and colorimetry, with several collaborations with l’IEN “Galileo Ferraris” in Torino and with other Italian Universities. In this context she was involved in national and international research programs and is author of more than 100 scientific papers. She was part of the team working on European Concerted Action Programme on Daylighting. The programme research had as a main objective the promotion of the use of daylighting concepts and materials by designers.
